While the sun was bright in the afternoon, the pathway along the river remained in the shadows. Along the right we saw the sun above the river itself, but in the trees and bush the light remained defused. Except for a cut tree here and there, or a board on the forest floor, few signs of a hunan hand were seen along this stretch of the river, yet the fences marked were the wild ended and domestic life returned.
